General Questions:

Please answer these questions with your genuine thoughts and feelings. We are interested in understanding who you are, how you think, and what you hope to gain from this opportunity, rather than polished or “perfect” responses. Authenticity is valued and encouraged throughout the application.

Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of AI, as  it removes your personal voice and reflection from any writing. That said, AI use will not be investigated or used as a gatekeeping tool - we trust you to approach this process with integrity.

Your answers may be written in paragraphs or as bullet pointed ideas. Whichever you prefer to express your ideas most clearly.

The maximum word count is just that, a maximum. Clear, thoughtful answers are always preferable to longer ones, and you should not feel pressure to reach the full word count.

Why do you want to be an HSA? Include any relevant experiences you have that would make you a suitable candidate for the role.

Many students see global issues as irrelevant to their daily lives. Choose one global issue (e.g., climate change, population health) and explain how you would make it feel relevant and engaging to a peer who has never been interested in civics before.

This role requires consistent engagement over time. What might make this challenging for you, and how would you manage it?

We would like to get to know you better. Outside of grades and formal achievements, tell us about one thing that matters to you - this could be something you are proud of, a personal quality or interest that you think defines you, or something you have created or worked towards. Why is it important to you?
